Talent Show

Today we had a talent show between everyone at camp. There were some talented people that preformed. People that were really shy or I never talked to got up and sung really good. It was amazing to see people interact with each other like that. It was also interesting to find out what music some people were into. It was definitely my second favorite thing, behind the dance party.

Touring

Today we took a tour around campus. It was very interesting and I enjoyed it. The only thing I would have change was restroom breaks. Only because I had to pee really bad.

CHAMPIONS

Saturday we had the final parts for the Olympics. First we did the IceCube challenge. We had to scoop as many ice cubes as possible into a bucket with our feet. We then did ring toss and javelin throw. I then set a world record of 24 points. After that we took a break. My team (Green), was in third place. We then took to the last event. We had to carry a sponge from bucket to bucket and fill one up as fast as possible. It took a couple minutes but we got first place and won. We were the 2015-2016 Olympic Champions.

Photography

In photography class we need to take and submit photos based on lines, shape, value, mass, color, texture and space. At first I thought it was going to be easy but when I got outside, it was suddenly hard to find the categorized images. The picture below would represent space because of the vast majority of open space.

Gallery hop

Everything was basic until Turkish class. We were able to skype with a Turkish resident. They were just coming to an end for an even where they don't eat all day. It was interesting to ask questions and get super accurate answers. Later that day we went to a gallery hop. We walked from building to building looking at overpriced art. Overall, it was a good day

The second Thursday

The second Thursday was a normal day. Breakfast, classes, lunch, elective, and dinner. Nothing really special happened. So, therefore,  I have nothing to talk about.

On to the second day

First night was kind of hard to fall asleep. I'm not sure if it was because of the awkwardness or the fact that my sleep schedule was upside down. Whatever it was, it made it hard to sleep. I'm ready to see what were going to do today and also exited to meet all the people attending the camp along with me.I feel this will be a great experience to stay at the University of Kentucky for three weeks. I'm ready.

First Day

The first day was awkward for me. I didn't know anyone at the camp. I just met y new roommate that I would be staying with for the next three weeks. I wasn't sure if I would be homesick in the near future but I would have just had to fight it out. I got to meet my RIA, Alicia, and the rest of my group.  Later on we had to make a banner. We decided to go with the name, Kentucky Scholars. We drew a picture of Kentucky, and came up with a slogan.

Fusion on Saturday

The 11 of April on Saturday, we attended our fusion events. I chose to go to God's Catholic Net. While there we helped organize and hand out breakfast for people who needed it. While there I helped pour milk and orange juice. I also helped peel potatoes that were going to be used for the lunch they were having that afternoon. Before we left we were asked to help cleanup.  So me and a friend help clean windows and tables. Overall I feel that it was a great experience. I would definitely enjoy doing it again.

Turkish...

Turkish class is fun but challenging at the same time. That's good though. I would rather have a challenge than have everything handed to me. I don't know, its fun and it'll be a journey to continue.

The second Tuesday

Today was just a normal day. In photography class we took some pictures based on categories. The Turkish elective was fun today. Dinner was great. Tacos are amazing. But other than that, it was just a normal, chill day.

New Electives

Today we started a new elective. I got placed into Turkish Language and Culture. Today we learned a few basic phrases. We watched videos involving culture and we looked over canvas for future assignments. I feel that it may be a challenge and I'm up for that.

Olympic practice

So today we practiced for our Olympics. We went around to different stations and found out who was dominant in each event. Next week we will get together and whoever was dominant, participates in that event. LETS GO KENTUCKY SCHOLARS!

Gods Pantry

Today we took a trip to Gods Pantry. While there we volunteered to help package cereal that would be handed out to people of need. We took a small bag and filled it to average out to 1 lb 8 ounces. We then filled up boxes with 12 bags in each. At the end of the day, we ended up packing 1800 pounds of cereal. We were also told that what we packed, would feed 1500 people. That's crazy! I had a great experience and would look forward to doing it again.

Tour of Winchester Farms Dairy Factory

So we took a trip to the Winchester farms dairy factory. While there we were taken on a tour throughout the factory. We got to see a variety of things. This included the shipping and receiving area. This was where they received the raw milk. We then seen the area where they separated it. After this we then went to the cooling room. This is where they stored all the yogurt and milk. We watched the machines pack the yogurt onto a forklift base. After the tour we got free samples and headed to Orange leaf. All in all, we had a great time and it was very interesting to me.
